What is a Comprehensive Plan?
A Comprehensive Plan is a local government’s guide for decision making and covers a 10-year period. It is created by studying the existing conditions of the Town, debating preferred future alternatives and priorities, and identifying practical implementation strategies to help the Town reach is preferred future goals.
The nine elements addressed by the comprehensive plan are population, economic development, natural resources, historic and cultural resources, community facilities, housing, transportation, priority investments, and land use.
