Waiting for Fall to Arrive

Wednesday, October 3, 2018 4:40:00 PM

Here in Santee, we are all waiting for Fall weather. Even though we all enjoy the warm temperatures, a change should be in order soon. The days are getting shorter and nights a bit cooler. But don't let the length of daylight keep you from enjoying what Santee has to offer.

Golf is at its best. With the coming cooler temps, we can still enjoy a round of golf at one of the three championship course in town. The courses are still well groomed and the pace is a bit quicker. We welcome golfers from all over the world, but these are the days to have an influx of players from the northern part of the USA. Welcome to our golfing visitors. Enjoy your stay.

The fish are enjoying fresh new water from the Upstate, coming down to Lake Marion in part, from the storms we experienced several weeks ago. We do hope that our neighbors in North Carolina and in the Myrtle Beach of South Carolina are recovering quickly.Crappie are in shallow water now as well as the Largemouth Bass. Stripers are starting to school and frequently surface.

The Town of Santee is hosting the annual Fall Yard Sale on Saturday, October 6. It is held at the Town Hall Complex on Municipal Way and always has lots of treasures to purchase from the vendors.

Fall is a great time to check your smoke detectors and change the batteries, if you haven't in a while. With families turning on furnaces and gas logs for the first time this season, it is extremely important to keep them maintained, so also have them checked for leaks and any other dangerous situations.
